How I Grew My TikTok Account To 10,000 Followers

I woke up this morning and saw I'd hit the 10,000 follower mark on TikTok.

I've had quite a lot of people message me asking about getting started on TikTok since I started the account back in September.

Whilst I'm still figuring a lot out, here's what I've learned:

1. You don't need any fancy equipment, the camera on your phone is more than good enough.

2. You don't need to over produce your videos, authenticity wins in TikTok.

3. TikTok are actively pushing videos over 1 minute long, creating longer videos helps get your account pushed.

4. Use CapCut to edit your videos and add captions.

5. Use TikTok native captions on your video too, it really helps with SEO. Hide them off screen if you don't want them shown.

6. Repurpose old content, the video you posted 3 months ago, post it again. There are millions of people who didn't see it.

7. You have to find a niche, a reason for people to follow you when they land on your page. The video that got them to your profile in the first place is what they're looking for more of.

8. This is the biggest one. You have to be consistent and show up every single day. I aim to post 3-5 videos per day. When I first started it used to take me about 20-30 minutes to film and edit a video, 530 videos later I can now do it in about 5-10 minutes.

You might think 3-5 videos per day is excessive, on a platform with an audience of millions it really isn't. You might also think it's a lot of work, it is a first but when you get faster at filming and editing AND have a library of hundreds of videos you can repurpose it really doesn't.

If you're still on the fence about creating content on TikTok, don't do what I did and wait a year to take the plunge, just start today.

It's bags of fun.
